Single Origin Coffee

It’s one of the rarest types of coffee. Connoisseurs treasure it for its delicacy. And it is neither a pea nor a berry. This is a Peaberry!

Coffee beans grow within fruits called cherries; when ripe, they turn a vibrant red. Most of the time, the cherry contains two seeds that grow side-by-side. These are typical coffee beans. Growing together within the fruit, they develop that shape that you’re familiar with, with a flat side and a domed side.

About 5-10% of the time, however, only one seed grows within the cherry, possibly due to only one ovule being pollinated. These single beans are called peaberries.

Coffee from the Thippanahalli Estate is grown on some of the highest peaks in the region by fifth-generation planters. One of the oldest families with a history of 230 years in this district and are pioneers in a coffee plantation. The family has been growing coffee since 1860 and the present families are the fifth and sixth generation planters.

Coffee Notes: This single-estate coffee has a subtle spiciness, nutty overtones and a deliciously rich, chocolatey body.

During the late 19th century, while India was under British rule, coffee was regularly shipped to Europe. Coffee was exposed to the damp and humid monsoon conditions while it was stored on barges and transported from India to Europe.

This caused the coffee beans to swell, become pale in color, and also altered their taste. In this way, Monsoon Malabar coffee was discovered. The raw beans are exposed to the annual monsoon humidity in India for around 3 to 4 months.

This reduces the acidity of coffee beans and gives them a unique earthy flavor.

Roast: Light to medium roast coffee

Coffee Notes: This Microlot monsooned malabar coffee has Mellowness, Light bitter and good soft body after taste.

Delve into exhilarating coffee from Mullayangiri, one of the finest coffee estates of Asia and also the highest peak of Karnataka. Only the ripest of the beans have been picked and carefully roasted. The peak is located in the Western Ghats of Chikmagalur. It derives its name from the tomb of Saint Mulappa Swamy, which is located at the peak. The saint is said to have meditated in the caves surrounding this hill.
